Today a Splatoon-focused Nintendo Direct aired. I'm not sure about you guys, but I'm really hyped for Splatoon, so I made this thread for discussion.

New stuff:
The Inklings are 14 years old.
Character skin and eye colour can be changed
Enemy ink slows you down
Points you earn in online are the currency, builds your XP
Shows off Inkopolis Plaza and the shops: Booyah Base (accessories), Shrimp Kicks (shoes), Jelly Fresh (shirts), Ammo Knights (weapons) and Cooler Heads (hats)
New free stuff will come to the game post-launch.
The Inkling Sisters. oh no
Three weapon types: shooters, chargers, and rollers
Shows off splattershot and blaster, and 2 new shooters: the Aerospray MG, and the Jet Squelcher
Shows off the Splat Charger and 2 new chargers: The E-liter 3K and Splatterscope
Shows off the splat roller and one new roller: the Dynamo Roller
The weapons are sold in sets and you cannot select your sub and specials.
Sub weapons: Ink Bomb, Subction Bomb, Burst Bomb, Point Sensor, Ink Mine, Squid Beacon, and the Disruptor.
Special weapons: Inkzooka, Killer Wail, Inkstrike, Echolocator, Bubbler, and the Kraken.
Clothes are sold in brands and you can special order from one brand by inspecting an Inkling at the Inkopolis plaza.
Inklings in the Inkopolis Plaza will be from matches you have played and Miiverse.
Abilties are named perks, clothes can earn more slots for perks by leveling them up by wearing them more.
You can talk to Spyke to buy more perk slots with a Super sea snail.
Boss battles confirmed
Tower control and Rainmaker modes confirmed.
Tower control is like Payload in Team Fortress 2, except it isn't asymmetric.
When enough players reach level 10, the level requirement for ranked battles will be patched out.
The arcade will be for playing 8-bit minigames. Ink Jump and three other minigames which are unlocked by using the Splatoon amiibo.
The Inkling Sisters host events named Splatfests, which is like Conquest Mode in Smash 4. Pick a side and represent it.
The goal of each mission in singleplayer is to get an electric zappfish.
For US gamers, if you pre-order at Gamestop you get Inkling costumes for Super Smash Bros for Wii U/3DS for free. EU/Japanese gamers, you will be able to buy them.
For EU/Japanese gamers with a regular New 3DS, Splatoon faceplates will be released for the system.
A Splatoon demo will be playable on certain hours of the day on Saturday.
