Well, 2015 is just 4 months old, and it has changed significantly compared to last year. Especially in the gaming industry.

A lot of gaming companies are following a trend, a trend that's bad, but nobody even cares.

-Unfinished games
That has been always happening, but since 2013, big AAA titles are doing the same thing now. And in 2014, it was worse. Many developers are just rushing to finish the game to get a quick buck from it, and repeat the same thing every year. When that game is released, it's either buggy, filled with glitches, or just completely unplayable. Gamers wait for almost a month for a patch to be made. Seriously, the game should be able to be used on Day 1,not a month later.

-Incorrect use of DLC
Most developers these days just beg for money. Even after releasing an incomplete game, they still make you pay for the patch as DLC. What the hell? Especially with Mortal Kombat X. Really? Easy Fatalities? Who the hell will buy that crap? Oh, costumes that can be unlocked can be unlocked immediately by purchasing it? No, that concept should be applied to mobile games, not a AAA game.

-Lack of innovation
The trend of games today is to play like other games. You want your game to be successful? Make it like Call of Duty, or Assassins Creed! Oh, wait, you don't? Then you're an indie developer. To be a top dog developer, you must copy other games. Seriously, that's pathetic. That's the major reason why THQ went bankrupt. Many games that are original, fresh, and innovative are being ignored by AAA games that are basically the same thing every year. No one cannot shine because of this. Even new IPs still play like other games. The same thing applies to consoles. The PS4 and Xbox One are just a PS3 and 360 with better graphics. No real innovation whatsoever.

So those are the major reasons why I think the gaming industry will eventually crash again, but this time, it will affect globally.

What do you think?

I couldn't go 24 hours without a patch update.

Stop buying crappy games.

Nintendo will save the day once again.

Nintendo > Capcom > All

I'm comparing Capcom to all, guys.

That's like saying the TV industry will crash.

^It will eventually. YouTube already has more viewers than all of the years TV existed combined.

As long as I'm out of high school I'll be fine. I won't have much time for games when I have work to do.

First, people who say the PS4/Xbox One aren't much of a leap over 360/PS3 don't own one.

Second, for all the examples of bloated, broken AAA games that abuse DLC there are always games that get it right, such as Far Cry 4, GTA V, and inFAMOUS Second Son. Also, the upcoming Witcher 3, delayed four months just for bug testing.
You can cherry-pick negative examples of the industry but that isn't indicative of everything.

Side-note: The Danganronpa games, visual novel esque games for the PS Vita passed over 200,000 sales, NIS says they will localize more niche games like that. That is huge. And this is what you're forgeting, gaming is not fully dominated by AAA games and greedy publishers, there is great variety, probably moreso than ever before. (I really do like games like Danganronpa, they are at a much more refined level than indies, but aren't expensive as hell like most AAA games, I guess they would fall under AA)

It's possible that we could go into another crash. It probably won't happen, or it just won't happen anytime soon for that matter. The foretelling signs of the second gaming industry crash are only just starting to show up, and these signs should be lasting for a good amount of time before the actual crash begins.

I would also add that everyhting about #GamerGate is also a bit of an example of something leading us to a game crash. And no, I am not picking sides on that whole debate.
You won't see me here, but you might find me if you look in the right places.

tf is gamergate?

It'd be like over 15 years before another gaming crash, probably even more than 20, Atari was making too many consoles and ET and Pac-Man (New One) sucked. Consumers are still consuming, remember AAA games aren't the only games in the universe, if they're AAA then that means they're doing well too. So I don't see how that'd start a game crash.

> Not knowing what GamerGate is

Seriously, you haven't seen the hundreds of tweets, videos, and articles on GG? It may have faded from public attention recently, but it's still going strong.

That or knowyourmeme did a bad job at explaining it.
