BEST RPG BATTLE SYSTEM EVER
BirdJesus (2015-02-11 02:01:58)It looks just like any other RPG. Choose an action, and a flashy animation plays.

Nutsy (2015-02-11 22:16:17)It looks like your standard RPG, but with flashy moves. If you're looking for an RPG where control the characters in real time, you should try the Tales of series.
The fight starts at 0:39. The player uses items at the beginning to reveal the health of the enemies.

Perfect_Chaos (2015-02-11 22:42:01)I meant rpgs where both the player and enemy's animation is unique when an attack is made. In most RPGs they just show the enemy flinching no matter how powerful the player's attack was. You see 4:00? That was one attack, I don't know maybe it's the nostalgia talking though. That game does look interesting though Nutsy.
Nutsy (2015-02-12 02:12:30)The Sonic game can be animated like that because it's small and there aren't a whole lot of battles. It would be a massive undertaking to animate like that in a full game.

Perfect_Chaos (2015-02-12 02:50:54)ik that, RPGs have too many enemys for this to happen. My idea is that minor enemys don't have unique animated attacks, if they did then there would be less minor enemies or too much of the same. The major enemies and allies are the only ones with unique animations. Or the minor enemies can be taken out like hyrule warriors or something. It's only a thought though, I'm not sure if this would be too much or not.
Nutsy (2015-02-12 11:11:20)The minor enemies suck in HW.
Anyway, that has nothing to do with the battle system itself, but more with battle animation. Having unique animations would make battles boringly long. Yesterday in Persona Q, it took me over seventy turns to defeat a boss. There were seven attacks each turn, so playing all those animations would be boring after seventy turns. If they were to animate Persona Q like that, they'd also need to animate that boss getting hit by every move, and every move by every character. There are 17 characters in all, so you can see where this is going.

Perfect_Chaos (2015-02-12 21:18:45)The minor enemy thing was just an example. I could be wrong but developers could make it so one animation fits every character. Like BT3, they didn't make a new animation for the character getting hit by the special attack. As for the long turns, it could be shorter if only one character attacks then the enemy does, there'd also be a power meter that begins to fill with every attack you get hurt by. When it's filled you could do a powerful team attack. Although, I guess it doesn't fix the long time it takes when you're further in the game. IDK.....
Nutsy (2015-02-13 02:20:19)It'd be nice, but the insane amount of effort needed to put it into reality probably isn't worth it. An RPG with only one character attacking a turn would suck, btwn
