I'm gonna start a discussion here, since we haven't had a discussion since SSB4, so, what the heck.

Be warned that this post will be long, so if you don't want to read it, please don't spam the "Too long, didn't read" like a retard.

So, DLC. It was big in the 7th generation. Adding more content to an already jam packed game! I thought it was an awesome idea. Getting more levels, characters, costumes, and many more! But I never thought that some developers will misuse it.

Some games requires you to buy DLC in order to complete the game. Why would I pay to win? Didn't I already bought the game? But it looks like I didn't. That pissed me off.

Other examples is that some developers releases content in the disc and pay for them to unlock. Like WTF? I bought the game to play it right? That includes the content as well. But no. I have to pay money to access content that already exists on the disc. That's like paying money to access my own internet that I'm already paying. *cough*PSN*cough*XBLA*cough* Especially Capcom with Street Fighter x Tekken. No, Capcom in general.

And the worst of all... Releasing unfinished games, make us pay full price, then release the rest of the game as paid DLC to complete it. This is the worst thing to ever happen in the gaming industry. And EA were the ones who started it all. Soon, other developers started to follow EA's steps. Why?

So, those were the most common misuses of DLC that some current developers are still doing. But what do you think?

I don't know about you guys but the only game I've ever played where you have to pay to get the ending was fallout 3, and that was only because said DLC is the direct sequel.

He's a popular character in Japan and a lot of people on Smashboards want him back. Plus, he's the villain of an important Nintendo franchise.

Fighting games are generally terrible with DLC.

A game that does DLC right is Bioshock: Infinite, for $20 you get three packs, two of which are story DLC that wasn't even started until after the game shipped. The end result was very polished compared to most DLC.

Ubisoft games are also pretty bad with DLC. Same with Activision and EA, though I guess a case can be made for BattleField. That being said, a lot of the stuff we pay for now used to be in game unlocks.

On a sidenote: Those of you with PS4, Xbox One or a really good PC, BUY THE WITCHER 3. The devs CDProjektRed are actually against both DLC and DRM, and the many pieces of DLC the Witcher 3 will be getting is all going to be free. Day one buy for me now, those guys have balls.
