How do I perform a perfect shield?

I've heard of the perfect shield but have no idea how to use it.

Use the shield at the exact moment.

I tried the Perfect Shield explosion power, but it's really hard to pull it off.

It's pretty easy to use against projectiles, but then the explosion can be out of reach.

Perfect shield is basically just shielding at the "right" moment. You're supposed to be able to use it without trying. It just happens.
