I like the Shin Megami Tensei games, but I suck so I can never get very far. Drawing your own map is hard.

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES and 4 Golden BY FAR.

Persona 4 Golden (Vita remake of PS2 original) is in my opinion possibly the best game ever
made, a solid 10/10 in my book.
This is a game that will affect you on a very personal level, and dominate your thoughts and maybe even actions for weeks or months. This is a game where just the base story takes 70~ hours to complete if you get the true end, yet I've beaten it 3 times and am seriously considering a fourth run. If you don't have (Or want) a Vita, dig out an old PS2 or download the vanilla version on PS3. Be warned: Golden added a TON, so you will be missing out.

Persona 3 FES is an enhanced version of 3, also a PS2 disc/PS3 download. From a game design perspective it is inferior to Golden and even the original 4, little things like not as many save points, not as good world navigation, etc, BUT the story is so insanely awesome I do considered it the better game. Plus you get a Dog and a robot as party members, plus the game doesn't pull its punches (Lots of important people die). Not to mention the characters summom their Persons by basically shooting themselves in the head with fake guns, and one of the characters is in elementary school. Yep, now you know why it is M rated. Anyway, I still need to beat FES, I'm actually further in the not-so-great PSP version of 3, but whatev. Persona is the best and imo, it is WAY better than the main SMT games.

Also, I just wanted to say, dat soundtrack. Persona 3 has this crazy mix of jazz, hip-hop and rap, and it is just insane. Just look up "P3 Mass Destruction" on YouTube or something. That is the awesomeness you hear almost every battle.

Xenoblade Chronicles.

Fun, strategic gameplay, and protagonists that act like real people instead of acting like generic protagonist who is perfect in every way.

Also, grinding experience is an almost nonexistent issue.

Xenoblade Chronicles is better than all of the games you listed, Han.

Xenoblade is certainly longer than those, but it's not a perfect game.

"A fun way to battle." It doesn't have a unique battle system apart from Shulk's divinity. Running around while you wait to attack is used in FFXIV and even Quest 64.

Chrono Trigger and FFVI are some of the greatest games I've played. (even though I haven't beaten either) Secret of Mana was pretty fun the time I played it.
