My dear God! I didn't expect that to happen! In an interview by Famitsu with Sakurai, he reveals his opinions on people who complain clone characters on the new Smash.

Here's the list for those who don't know who they are hidden in a spoiler for those who don't want to be spoiled.

Anyways, here are his quotes:
"There are 3 fighters [Look at spoiler!] that are alternate models (clones) in the game. Each was originally a color variation, but during development, they were given balanced characteristics. Since their functionality had differences, forms were separated from each other. However, it was vital that this didn’t increase the required man-hours. Some relative tuning was sufficient as it wasn’t necessary to create balancing from scratch.

This is like a free dessert after a luxurious meal that was prepared free of charge. In a restaurant with this type of service, I don’t think there’s anybody who would say, “Change this to a meat dish!!

Yet, I’m told [to do that] about Smash Bros. But, I guess since a lot of them are children, it cannot be helped.

If you were to lazy to read it, he basically says that people who complain about Smash clones are children.

What do you guys think? Do you agree with him? Leave thoughts!

I see it more like a cheap appetizer than a luxurious dessert. You know, like some corn tortilla chips, the purpose of which is to fill me up so a smaller meal is required to sate my hunger.

Of course, opinions vary. I find this situation akin to the famous "Is the glass half full or half empty?" scenario.
Really, I don't fill like complaining much about the 3ds version (although I already have. I just did.) because like others have said, pulling this off on the 3DS is "nothing short of a miracle". It's the Wii U version that we're waiting for and it's the Wii U version that we're expecting to meet our expectations.
