As you should know, we are within the eight-generation of video consoles. It seems that Nintendo's sales didn't go very well, this generation.

The Wii U was surpassed in a few short months after November of 2013 by the PS3 and Xbox One, in terms of sale.

According to the following excerpts from an article I read, the reason this writer believes that the Wii U did so bad this generation is the fact that the gamers thought that this console would be a repeat of the hardware and software capabilities from the Wii, itself.

Because it tried to repeat something unrepeatable.

When the Wii was released, all the XBox 360 and PS3 owners poo-pooed it because it had lackluster graphics and technical specs, and the controller sounded gimmicky.

The casual gamers who made the Wii so popular decided none of the games had depth, and either stopped playing them, or found other mediums for it. In particular, smartphone and tablet gaming became more popular.

So when the Wii U came out, the hardcore gamers looked at it and said, "Bah, it's just going to be another Wii, full of kiddie and casual games. And it doesn't even have a Zelda, Metroid, or Smash Brothers game available, so I have NO reason to buy it."

The fear of repeating the specifications of the Wii isn't a legitimate reason for you to not buy the system, and the above quote describes games not being available for the Wii U yet.

So, do you believe that the Wii U was Nintendo's main mistake, or do you think that it would get back on it's feet?

Funny you mention this, because out of the big three, the only company that's actually in trouble is Sony. Sony can't afford to run a deficit.

As for the Wii U, I believe it's too early to tell, but slow and steady wins the race, right?
A generation's console war lasts about a decade, right?

Ummm. On the launch day of PS4 over 3 million were sold.. Im sure Sony is doing just fine.. Its still new so,there isnt many games yet..

Sony isn't just video games, they're also an electronic manufacture to make TVs, cameras, computers, ~~the legendary Walkmen,~~ and also makes movies.

So if Sony is really losing money because of the Sony Computer Entertainment division, they'll have to sell that division so the entire company won't collapse. Sony can survive without that division.
