Sad new from Sony's latest handheld. As Sony's E3 presentation only focused on the PS4, the Vita was mentioned for couple of seconds, then completely ignored.

Sony now views the PS Vita as an accsesorie rather than a system itself, as this quote from a Sony executive confirms it:
"We've taken a more holistic view with our platforms. With remote play, Vita has now essentially, become an extender or an enhancer for the main platform for other rooms in the house, or when someone else wants to use the main screen"

What do you think? Do you use your Vita as a system itself, or do you just use it as a PS3/PS4 controller? Leave thoughts!

SCEA views it as an accessory. But in Japan it's their most supported system right now.

Anyway my internet connection isn't quite good enough for remote play to function well unless I set it to "direct" and sit right by the system and then what's the point?

I use it independently it's a great and criminally under-rated system seriously the internet will make you hate but once you get one, oh damn. It is handheld heaven. Once you go P4G you don't go back.

I'd say it's a dead tie. Vita doesn't have as many heavy hitters (Animal Crossing, Pokemom) but the quality is insane.

Vita is also basically a portable PS1, PS2, PSP, PS3 (kinda) and PS4 (remote play) at once so great value.

Where the 3DS wins in my book is Kid Icarus and Monster Hunter. KI:U should be the standard for handheld AAA games, and Monster Hunter is Monster Hunter. It would be perfect on Vita too, which makes the Vita not having it suck all the more.
