So, I've been following Hyperkin for a while and got some very good info on the RetroN 5.

The console is set to release in April 2014, which is in less than a month, at $100. (I call BS on the under $100 thing they said last year at MGC 2013)

At CES 2014, they showed the gray model, and wow. They actually found a way to make something look presentable with the new shell. The black version of the new shell is awful IMO.

Also, just today (March 25th), Hyperkin posted on their facebook page an image of their new box.

The console features ports for the NES, SNES, Genesis, Famicom, Gameboy Family, and a little groove to put in a Power Base Converter in the Genesis slot, but doubles as controller storage.

It includes a wireless controller with Bluetooth, so you could possibly hook it up to your phone if you really want to.

The user interface uses Android and allows you to play the games, re-map the controls, enter cheats, and manage save data (I think).

Yes, the console is Android emulation, but all of the games they have tested so far worked, so don't worry about compatibility issues with your games.

And, of course, it has an HDMI output, but it's sadly the only audio/video port. No CRT. Wtf Hyperkin.

Hopefully they can get this thing out by April. (Remember they announced the release date will be Summer 2013?)

Photo courtesy of Hyperkin's facebook page. The controller looks bloated from the side.

If you have any more info, you can tell me, and I will add it to this thread.

Sorry, for the bump, new info.
Hyperkin uploaded an unboxing yesterday.

The console is ready for release. Don't pull a Half Life 2 Episode 3...

Looks like a rip-off of the NES' design.

Might pick it up... if there's any good games.

I would buy this
but no n64 support, and we'd have to find the games we want to play (unless there's a SD slot)
