“Truth”

“Daniel, can we pack some clothes for the orphanige?”
“Yes. that’s fine, but you can’t take a lot of stuff.”
Vince, going into his old room, lifted up a purple blanket in his closet, revealing a wooden chest, about the size of a microwave.
“Daniel, come here. I found a brown wooden chest!”
Daniel ran into Vince’s old room.
“Let’s not open it. It could be dangerous,” Daniel said, warning Vince.
“Opps! Too late! I already opened it.”
Daniel and Vince looked inside the chest. Before their eyes they saw two red potions and a handwritten note on ancient looking paper.
“The handwriting is faded, but I think I can read it,” said Daniel.
“Then read it,” said Vince in a firm voice.
Daniel bends down, and grabs the note. He reads the note out loud. “If you are reading this, your parents are probably dead. To reveal the truth of their death, drink the potions provided in the chest.”
Vince reached in the chest and took out the two bottles that were in the chest, giving one to Daniel, Vince pulled off the cork from the bottle. “Well, if it says that we need to drink these to reveal the truth of our parents death, I’m in,” Vince said.
Vince took the bottle and started drinking the potion.
“Yuk! It taste like moldy pizza!” said Vince. Vince began to blink. As if he had pink eye. “Daniel, my eyes feel weird.”
“Do you need eyedrops?” Daniel asked.
“No thank you. It’s getting better now.” Vince saw a low shining light in the corner of his eye coming from the closet. “Daniel! I see a hidden doorway. Over there! In the closet! It’s all golden and shiny!”
Daniel, plugging his nose, he drank the potion quickly.
“Yuk, you're right. This does taste like moldy pizza.” In the corner of his eye, Daniel saw two bronze keys in the chest.
“I wonder why I didn't see these keys before?” Daniel said under his breath, as he grab the keys and put them in his pocket.
Daniel and Vince started going down the long corridor.
“It’s starting to get dark, Daniel. Do you have your flashlight with you?” Vince ask.
“No, but I found a torch and a matchbox,” Daniel said. Daniel took a match and struck it across the wall, lighting the match, he igniting the torch. “Good, now we have some light.”
“Let’s go and see what’s at the end of this corridor,” Vince said as he dashed across the corridor.
“Vince, wait up!” Daniel said, yelling to Vince.
When Daniel caught up with Vince, he saw him standing still, pointing at a glowing object in a fountain made of marble.
“Daniel, what is that?” Vince said.
“I have no idea.” Daniel said.
Then, the glowing object started to become so bright they looked away. Huge winds started blowing everywhere. The fountain started overflowing with water. The winds extinguished the light of the torch, yet the blinding white light of the two objects provided light for the whole corridor.
“HOLD ON TO ME!” Daniel said, trying to yell to Vince over the noise of the winds.
Vince, who was holding on to a corner of the wall, jumped to grab Daniel’s hand, but could only grab one leg. The winds started to calm down, and the fountain cracked and began to break. As the pieces of the marble fountain that hit the ground, was absorbed by the ground.
Daniel grabbed the torch and relit it. The glowing objects started to dim.
“What do we do now?” Vince said.
“I have no idea Vince,” Daniel said, pulling out the bronze keys he had in his pocket from earlier. “I think we should find the locks that these keys open.”
Vince walk up towards the 2 shining objects, he fell on his back, running into something that could not be seen.
“HEY WHAT WAS THAT!?!?” Vince said angrily.
“Maybe these keys shuts down that forcefield” Daniel said under his breath.
“What that?” said Vince weakly, trying to stand up.
Daniel gave one key to Vince, “These keys, they might open up that room.”
“Oh. I know that.”
“Sure you did.” Daniel said, scolding at Vince. “Just look on the walls for a key hole.”
30 minutes past, Daniel and Vince found nothing.
“Ugg! This stinks!” Vince said throwing the key he had in frustration.
The key hit the ground, bouncing off and rebound towards the forcefield. The key disintegrated.
Daniel, throwing his arms up in the air, said, “Vince, what was that for?!” The key flew out of Daniel’s hand and ended up were the first key was destroyed.
The corridor shook violently.
“What is happening?!” Vince said as he tried to keep his balance.
The shaking stop.
“So thats what it feels like to be in an earthquake? Wow.”
Daniel walk up towards the two objects from earlier.
“What are these?”
Suddenly, there was a pound at the door.
“Daniel and Vince Perez - Solis! This is the CPS.”
“Oh no Daniel. Their here! What are we going to do?!”
“We should just stay here and hope they don't come here.”
“But what happen if they find us?”
“We run for it.”
“But were?!”
“Keep your voice down Vince. They might hear us.”
Vince stop talking. Hoping that they don't find them.
“Quick check in the closet.” said a man working for the CPS.
A door appeared behind Daniel and Vince.
“Vince! In here!”
Daniel and Vince crawled thru the little passageway. When they got to the end, they saw two bikes and helmets.
“Get on.” Daniel said.
As Vince got on, he ask Daniel where they are going?
“Just follow me”
“Ok Daniel.” Vince said, in an uneasy voice.
About 5, 6 miles they rode until they got to a wooden shack.
“What is this?”
“This is a club house me and my friends made a while back. Come on in.”
Daniel and Vince went into the shack and found a tire, and an old jar filled with about $5.00.
“Umm. This doesn't look promising Daniel.”
“Don't worry, this is just an cover up, the real thing is here.” said Daniel pointing at the tire.
“What?”
Daniel reach down, and dusted off the dirt and shows a palm scanner. Vince had a surprise look on his face.
“What… How…Who… I'm confuse now.”
“Daniel and Vince drop down the tire, landing on lots of pillows.
“Hey ______, ______, come out. I have Vince with me.”
Light and computers turned on, revealing an room kinda like NASA control room. Only with more gadgets and gizmos.
“Welcome to ‘The Shack’ Vince.”
“How did you do this.”
‘Well our-”
“HOW CAN YOU AFFORD IT?!?! THIS MUST COST LIKE A MILLION DOLLARS!!”
“Well, our parents took me to the bank. They told me that when they died, to take both of their blood, at least 10 15 drops, and go to window five. They said that their money was mine to use. The man at the counter had blood from them already. But I thought that if they died, that I would not be able to get some of their blood, so I took some of their blood early. When they died, I ran to the bank and gave the man at window five the blood samples. They had at least one million dollars in their saving account.”
“Wow.”
