We know it's coming, and it may be awhile, but a "core" Pokemon game for the 3DS is inevitable.
I made this thread so you can post what you want in this game, and speculate on what Gamefreak will put in it.(please try to be realistic)

Here are some thoughts for you.

Pokemon Black/White a DS game had online video and voice chat. It wasn't the best quality, but the fact that a DS game had it is impressive. So imagine what they could do on 3DS.

Spotpass and Streetpass is meant for Pokemon. Imagine trading Pokemon via streetpass, and you could receive Wonder Cards, News and Updates over Spotpass. (that would be awsome)

Imagine a Pokemon in full 3D. The sprites were great, but I'm hoping for a 3D Pokemon handheld game. (Pokedex 3D seems to hint at the possibility)
Of course, Nintendo/Gamefreak could go the other route, and just make the sprites much more advanced, making them look like the anime perhaps?

Of course with the 3DS's power, we could also be looking at a much bigger game. Perhaps for the first time we will be able to go to more than two regions?

Okaaaay. But in game they have a pokedex. To be honest, Pokedex 3D is just eye candy.

Pokemon Gray, definitely. New features, mini-games, story, sprites, but same old Unova.

I just hope they make a generic pokemon game in a new region that has ALL the pokemans. That way you might actually be able to catch em all

No. Pokemon Gray (Grey,if you care about spelling) got cancelled. And even if Pokemon Grey was real,it would be for DS.

There's a parked domain for Gray.

Pokemon Gray wasn't cancelled, it was never confirmed at all.

Here is another thought. The 3DS has a built in pedometer, right? So perhaps they could make a more advanced pokewalker with playcoin support.(built into the game itself)
