Yes, they did. But what were they expecting, the Wii was almost 20x weaker than the HD consoles.

Well it doesn't matter. Software sells hardware. Nobody cannot deny that.

Vita's way powerful than the 3DS, but the 3DS has better games, making it the best handheld on the market.

PS1 was way weaker than the N64, but it had better games.
The same goes for the PS2.

The GameBoy was way much weaker than the Sega GameGear and even the failed handheld, the Atari Lynx, but GameBoy dominated.

Graphics isn't everything. Look at the Magnavox Oddesy. It didn't even have graphics, but it had a pretty good life time.

@Nintendude-PS1 was "not way weaker" than the N64. In fact a lot of its games, especially the cutscenes, looked far better than what the N64 had.

You should see Rareware's games. They have the best cutscenes on N64, in fact, they did better than Nintendo. Clearly is way much better than FF7
