'Ello. In case you didn't catch the title, I'm learning web programming (PHP at the moment), and I would like some tips. For example, you could suggest sites for me to learn from, or teach me uncommonly used/unpopular (but useful) functions.

1. W3Schools? Hell no.
2. Tyzag is a bit confusing to me, and I personally think of it more as a dictionary or encyclopedia rather than a class-like thingamajig, like TheNewBoston or Codecademy.

One very handy, yet not necessarily obvious code:

Source Code
<?php $_GET['text']; ?>

This snippet will get a variable from the url. For example, using that code on this imaginary page:

http://website.com/page.php?text=Hi

Will return the string "Hi".

I have a question...

What is the use of $this->?
klubadmin (2013-07-07 02:23:56)
I believe it is object notation, as opposed to the more common array notation: $row['something']

Ex: $row->something

Though I'm not 100% sure that's completely correct.

I think $this is used to basically replace the variable before.

Example
$username=htmlentities($this);
Aviation fact: The a380 is the largest commerical aircraft in service!
