So I just got this game the other day. This is my first game in the series, so of course I put it on medium (the easiest setting). Then, the Casual and Classic option came up.
Since I decided I wanted the full experience, I chose Classic, where once your teammate dies, they don't come back.

And now, I'm having a troubling time with the game. I'm just on Chapter 5, and a lot of my ranks are dying like nothing. I'm not good at strategy games, but this is a game I really want to like and complete.

Do you guys have any tips or information at all for help? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I don't play on Classic mode ( But I'm on Lutanic+ ) But all I know, the People you don't like goes in the Front to Weaken the Foe, and put your Goodish people in the Middle, and lastly, you and Chrom in the Back. So it Should look like this:

W=Weak M=Middle L=Leader

WWWWW
MMM
LL

So mostly, put the Weak people out First for a Distraction and your Middle and Leaders will Defeat some while Traveling and Kill the main person ( Sometimes it doesn't end when you Defeat the Enemy's Leaders ) I haven't played this in a Month so, I don't know if this is 100% Accurate.

I was having a lot of units dead early on, too. Best thing to do is pair up (paying attention to stat benefits), and have stronger units like Frederick tanking. You may or may not have unlocked DLC (I think you get it upon beating chapter 4 or 5), which is extremely helpful in beating the game. Of course, your units could have had unlucky growths. Since you're on chapter 5, restarting from a new save file won't be a problem. On Lunatic and Lunatic+, the first 5 chapters are gamer hell. I could breeze through the game on Normal/Hard without breaking a sweat. So yeah, enjoy the game...

Make a new file on Casual. I played 3 Casual files before I moved into Classic.

I play Casual on Lunatic 5 was easy just have every one protect you and Chrom and use Frederick kill all the enemies.
