Well, we don't know a lot of details concerning the differences between X and Y, but if you watched the trailer, then the huge bird thing should be featured in Y version, while the big deer in Pokemon X version.

We don't know much about the starters yet.

I suggest to reserve however.

I think Y means the deer because of the horns, and X the bird because of the wings. Look closely at them, and the figures. They also transform into the letters at the end of the trailer...

It's actually the other way around. You can prove this because the X in the title is blue, and the Y is red. The deer has an X in it's eyes, and is blue. The huge bird is red and is a Y-shaped pokemon.

IGN says they think they represent chromosomes.
