It's like Fire Emblem with Guns. Just not as fun.
Introduction
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon was a launch game for the 3DS. Compared to some of the lackluster launch titles, it was pretty decent, but as you will see in my review, it could use a good amount of tweaking and polishing.
Graphics
To be honest I was disappointed when I took a good look at this game. Aside from some minor graphical flourishs such as billowing dust clouds, the game looks like a high level DS game. The "cut scenes" if thats what you'll call them, consist of nothing more than card board cut out figures, and text. The 3D effect is actually pretty good however. When you turn it on, environments and character models crisp up, and a good sense of depth is added. I would recommend playing with the 3D on at all times.

Sound
Well, this game certainly sounds realistic. Gunshots sound real, and you will hear environmental sounds such as flowing water that add to the experience. The sound track isn't great, but decent enough. I did find it annoying how many levels reused the same one however.

Gameplay
Ah...the good stuff. Like I said, it's like Fire Emblem with guns. You move your "ghosts" around, trying to get them in the right position to take down the enemies without getting taken down themselves. It is made more interesting by the fact that each one of the six ghosts have different weapons, traits, etc. For example: One of them Haze, is a sniper. He has greater range than the others, but unlike them, he cannot retaliate if fired upon. The environment also plays a great role. You have to consider things like range and elevation. All these things come together to make a pretty solid gaming experience. It's not perfect however. Sometimes you will experience strange frame rate drops, and the game may even freeze occasionally.
Content
The content is good, but with some disappointments. The main Campaign is pretty solid, there are 37 missions, and some may take over an hour. You can also unlock new weapons and such for your Ghosts. If you get tired of that or are stuck, then Skirmish mode is for you. Basically it's like a bunch of mini challenges, and you don't play as the Ghosts, you play as different troops. And then comes the disappointment. No online. No scratch that, this game doesn't even have wireless. "Multiplayer" requires you to take turns with the 3DS, which is just plain stupid. I should also mention this game doesn't make use of any of the 3DS's unique features such as streetpass and spotpass.
Set-up

The setup is somewhat helpful, but it doesn't really enhance the experience. As with 99% of the 3DS games, all the "action" is displayed on the top screen. Some info, along with the Characters gun is displayed on the touch screen, and you can switch it to a mini map that shows enemy locations instead. Personally I found the mini map much more helpful. All in all, Ghost Recon has a decent set-up, but don't except to be wowed.
Conclusion
Overall, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Shadow Wars is a good game that never quite reaches is potential. The game doesn't have any huge flaws aside from lack of Multiplayer, but the small ones quickly add up. If you are a Tom Clancy's lover, I would recommend this. If not this is one of those "get them if they're cheap" type games.

Overall: 7/10

This isn't a piece of junk. It's a good game with some flaws.

Sheese Jok21. Have you ever heard the saying "Don't judge a book by its cover?" What's wrong with you? Don't jump to conclusions!!

It's a decent game with solid gameplay, just a bit lacking in other categories. Splinter Cell 3D got rated low because it was a Port, and according to the reviewers, not a very good one.
