I agree. You have to use a combination of types to gain advantage of whatever the opponent has in store for you.

Snorlax (I EV'd it's speed stat)
Smeargle (EV'd on every stat. Used either because of last hope or strategy)
Staraptor (Again, EV'd)
Ratticate (Breed wih Smeargle so it knows Charge beam)
Treecko (My favorite stater, I love it! EV'd)
