You bet I'll be preordering these amiibo. I also want the Yarn Yoshi amiibo, but I might end up skipping the Animal Crossing cards.

The amiibo don't take out any content from the regular game. They're more just an option for those that want extra content, unlike Skylanders and Disney Infinity, which REQUIRE numerous figures for completion of the game. If I didn't want amiibo, I wouldn't buy them, and I would just ifnore their functionalities for the games I get.
Plus, the website clearly states "video game characters" for Smash Bros. Any characters that originate from movies, TV, manga, anime, etc. will not qualify for this. So everyone demanding Goku will be disappointed since he isn't a video game character.

The only ones I bought for myself are Koopa (he's my main in Sm4sh) and Link (because he's Link, I don't need to explain any further), although I would have loved to get Marth. We're just not lucky with limited edition stuff. :l
On topic, tho, I'm excited for more diverse VC titles on the Wii U, glad they've got a release month for Mario Maker, and hopeful to get my hands on Marth and Lucina. Splatoon, much to my surprise, looks fun, and a title I might've actually bought if I had time, money, and was single, so I'm likely not going to buy it.
That being said, I'm disappointed with no information on Devils Third, no Twilight Princess remake announcement, and no word on the long overdue GameCube additions to the Wii U VC, or announcing ALTTP 3D.
But at least they opened the Smash Ballot. Still hoping for Ryu Hayabusa...
