HanShotFirst (2014-03-29 22:43:39)You're now thinking of how these Pokemon fit into your team rather than the Pokemon themselves.
Mega Mawile has weaknesses you can easily abuse, while having ways to get around her strengths. Mega Lucario has weaknesses, but to abuse them you have to get around his strengths.
In a Risk/Reward setting, Mega Lucario has lower risk for Higher reward compared to most other Megas and even physical sweepers.
Physical Sweepers hate burns. What's that? He has a decent Special attack stat and a movepool to back it up? Never mind then.
Sweepers have low defenses. What's that? Lucario has three of the best priority moves in the game, And two of them have STAB that procs his Adaptability bonus? Never mind then.
Weakness to priority like Mach Punch? He has higher speed than you do. His priority is likely to go first.
Just use physical walls like Slowbro? He has a move that destroys that wall in his movepool, like Thunder Punch, or just uses a special attack, like Dark Pulse or Shadow Ball.
Entry Hazards? He has quad resist to SR, an immunity to Toxic spikes, and the only two available are Spikes and Sticky Web. Since spikes need 2-3 layers to be noticeable, only Sticky Web is reliable.
Phase him out? Sure, but he'll be back for more later. Considering Phazing moves have negative priority, you're gonna take a crapton of damage.
The only Pokémon I can name off the top of my head, is Wobbuffet with a Custap Berry, and only because it can ensure a +6 Priority Destiny Bond if it isn't OHKO'd.

HanShotFirst (2014-03-30 01:19:07)'Lucario's Special Movepool leaves much to be desired'
That must be the reason why People ran choice specs with 4 special attacking moves on Base Lucario. or ran Nasty Plot sets when he got it as an egg move in Generation 5. You really don't know what you're talking about.
'Has no Priority'
"A Special Priority Move obtainable by Lucario"
"What is Vacuum Wave?"

HanShotFirst (2014-03-30 15:12:00)The key sign of a person being out of any reasonable arguments is when they refer to ad hominem.
1) I don't recall ever actually being a jerk. I started off by saying that, while yes, Smogoneers shouldn't be forcing these rules down on others over random wi-fi, That they have reasons for these rules being in place, not because, as you put it, "Someone couldn't beat a few pokemon and decided to make a bunch of rules"
Consider that sometimes these rules are constantly being looked at. During Gen IV or V, they actually discussed the removal of the OHKO move clause, but the rule stayed when, surprise surprise, It was found that while it required a dedicated moveset, certain Pokemon could still effectively abuse OHKO moves, and it was still more luck-oriented than skill-oriented.
Over the course of this entire thread, I've done my best to avoid any mudslinging, because any argument should be able to stand on it's own merit rather than requiring conflicting viewpoints to be discredited first. You brought up your thoughts, but so far, you haven't been able to explain why Smogon's community should be defined by a few outliers. It sound to me like you met one of the guys at the lower end of the Smogon's community, and got butthurt over being called an "Uber using noob"
2)Excluding my previous post, which was rife with dry sarcasm, I fail to see where I've been a jerk, nor where I've been obsessing over being right.
You make your point, I provide a counter-point. You then follow up with a counterpoint of your own, and I continue the chain until it's done. That's how debating works. You don't get upset when someone keeps countering your statements, otherwise, it'll be impossible to take you seriously in an actual debate.
3) Dragon Pulse doesn't have priority.
4) By the logic of Egg moves not being in a movepool. then TMs and Move-Tutor moves don't belong either, but that just means you don't understand the definition of 'Movepool'
5) Ignoring the fact that you used Obsessive Compulsive as an Ad Hominem, it still doesn't work to get your intention through because neither Obsessive or Compulsive describe my responses toward the thread. This is in the same vein of those who use the term 'Autism' incorrectly to describe things.
Lastly, I'm not the one whining about a community I don't like, which is basically what this thread is.

HanShotFirst (2014-04-10 02:04:14)Sure. It totally wasn't debated for 80+ pages by people who knew what they were talking about in regards to Single Battle balance, and It totally wasn't put under a suspect test like every other thing they've banned in the past, with the ones conducting the test having High ranks in the single's ladder.
No, it was done arbitrarily. Like you're making it seem.

Apparently you still miss the concept of Smogon's rules being balanced for Singles play. Notice how I said singles, the format where Mega Gengar is impossible to switch into, it traps whatever is already in (IE, something that can't hurt it, or it can kill easily), and should it happen to ever hit a low enough HP, it hits you with a destiny bond.
Or the fact that You hit Mega Lucario with a fake-out, flinching it, then getting outsped and wrecked the next turn because It also has some of the best priority moves in the game, or it can just switch out and render your Mach Punch null.
In case you didn't know, You have a 50% chance of hitting yourself on the first turn. After 5 turns, you're guaranteed to break confusing, but that point, you're also guaranteed to have hit yourself once during that time, which would cripple your own Pokemon.
What's that, you want to taunt a Swagger user? lol, It's likely going to have Prankster, so his Swagger has priority over your taunt, You'll have to switch something with Taunt in to shut it down, which in SwagPlay teams can be bad because they tend to abuse Entry hazard setters like Deoxys-S and Deoxys-D. So you waste a turn effectively trying to shut it down. Those two, by the way, were banned in Gen IV and V. They remove bans at the end of each generation and allow the meta to settle. When it does, the banning out begins to allow more balanced tiers.
You don't know what you're talking about in regards to Singles balance.
Edit: One more thing. I can't simply shut up and let you say what you want, when the things you're saying are wrong. When someone who says something ignorant, intentionally or unintentionally, is not corrected, then that ignorance is allowed to spread since it went unchallenged.
How about actually debunking my counter-arguments, so your point carries more weight, than resorting to ad hominem, which reduces your credibility in any educational institute.

HanShotFirst (2014-04-12 23:29:57)>Makes claims without numbers or statistics to back it up
>Shows general ignorance in regard to high level Singles
>Defines whole community by a few outliers
>Resorts to ad-hominems when he can't dispute counter-claims
>Tells me I'm making an ass of myself
Alright dude.

If anyone wants a decent mega evolution that is not one of the 3 horribly overused megas, Charizard X, Mega Blastoise, and Mega Scizor are recommended.
Mega Scizor: Destroys fairies and psychics. U-Turn, Bullet Punch & Swords Dance will DESTROY everything weak to it.
Mega Blastoise: 630 base stats, with 135 Sp. Atk. Should I say more?
Charizard X: "buttttt been itz da must ovareted pekeman evar!" Dragon Claw, a Physical Flying type move, and Flare Blitz go good in it's moveset. Shadow Claw is also good for killing psychics. Flare Blitz does high damage, but makes Charizard X a suicidal a suicidal attacker. HOWEVER, it's worth it. It kills all Ice, Grass & Steel types.
