So many of us started gaming as kids, right? Yeah, good times, huh? When you get a new game, you just pop in the game, and started playing it. That joyful moment when you unlock new comment, or discovering a secret. But now, many of those moments just dies away.

So I'm making a discussion thread about major gaming problems we didn't face when we we're kids.

I'll start:

Day 1 Patches
When you get a new game, you just want to get home after a hard day of work, school, whatever, and just pop in the game, and play it. But in this generation? We can't. We have to wait for a multi gig update to download, which will probably take hours to download. It's really frustrating.

DRM
Back then, consoles were always offline. That's right, consoles didn't have Internet back then, which means most games were played offline. And that's the joy of it. You buy the game, and it's yours to keep forever. But with DRM, it becomes a problem. With DRM, you just basically buy an access to play the game, in other words, you don't really own the game. And make things worse, the company behind the game can take down the services at any moment. When that moment comes, it's lost forever, and will really suck, especially for collectors.

DLC
First off, DLC isn't a bad thing, but what makes it bad is how developers abuses it. Back then, games really needed to be in good shape. If not, you'll be known as a company that made crappy games. (Examples like LJN, Sega, Atari, etc.) So if you wanted to make people buy your games, make it good. But now, they don't care anymore. They can release all the crappy games they can, and then finish it later as DLC for a quick buck. You're paying 60 bucks for a game, then you have to pay more to get the completed game that should be. That's just insane, and people are really stupid enough to fall through the developer's trap!

So that's all I have. What were your current problems that you didn't face as a child?

Modern Music Tracks and Character Voices
Unless you played with a cheap McDonald's toy during your childhood, you should have less memory of the unfamiliar music tracks that we don't hear in video games, today. Such as the 8-bit Super Mario Bros. tracks, or the 16-bit tracks from Super Mario World. Since the evolution of video games, voiceless characters are rare, as well.

Neither PS4 nor Xbox One have DRM. Honestly I think gaming today is actually better than what it used to be, DLC isn't a problem as long as the base game has a lot of content already. And with the internet there's no excuse to be ignorant and not make good purchasing decisions.

But I'll play: Timed exclusive content. It's so stupid and arbitrary and just makes the fans mad. Examples would be the PlayStation exclusive Destiny content and CoD maps being first on Xbox.

That changed about Call of Duty. PlayStation will now receive Call of Duty DLC first.

Still stupid. I just find it to be so pointless. It's just a dumb attempt to make more people buy that version without it actually being exclusive.

Whatever the Hell Nintendo is doing with Splatoon. Purposefully locking content until a later update so that it 'won't get boring?' Grumble, grumble...
