pikarceus (2014-08-19 21:37:50)PC is too expensive for me, as I'd want to go all the way with a beast machine that can run Crysis 3 and BF4 on max. I'm not keen on being a person who plays LoL/Dota and weird indies on a laptop or midrange.
PS4 at only $400 is way more efficient.
Nin10dude789 (2014-08-20 00:47:49)Well, PC is the master race, but also has cons.
-Too expensive.
They say it's not. But when they tell you how much, you have to buy each part that equals a brand new console. So at the end, you spend more than $2000 just to play games for 2 years.
Gets outdated really quick
Console hardware sure does suck compared to PC. Unlike consoles, its performance improves over time, which makes games look better, and run smoother. PC in the other hand, it doesn't. It gets worse every time and performance drops, forcing you to buy new parts every 2-3 years unlike a console, you're good to go for 5-6 years.
Those are the 2 biggest reason I don't go to PC yet. I know it's better, has more games, (especially indies) and better sales, but I don't have enough money to constantly upgrade my PC every 2-3 years.

Don't forget Atari, NeoGeo, 3DO, Phillips, PinPin, and few failed consoles that had a decent amount of games.
@Krauss
Collecting PC parts at sales are just horrible. By the time you build your PC, it's already going to be outdated in a few months. Unless if you buy them online, which I don't trust personally.
And don't get me started that PC can emulate every console game, it's not the same as owning the real thing.
But the huge plus side about PC however is that backwards compatibility is really amazing. Unlike consoles, (except Nintendo consoles) your PC game you purchased in 80's can still be used today without buying it again, (Such as Virtual Console, XBLA, PS1/2 classics, remasters, etc.) and your purchases can be synced with a gaming laptop.

AngelRibbons (2014-08-21 05:48:32)I am currently a console gamer.
I plan on becoming a PC gamer, actually.
carlos11 (2014-08-21 06:22:47)I'm just going to say it once.
We already have computers designed specifically for gaming purposes (and more). It's called a (videogame) console.
I don't go around trying to get a PS4 to do something it's not designed to do now, do I? PC gaming is just inconvenient and hardly ever worth it. I believe the only reason people do it is because they are not willing to conform to social norms imposed by society. PC gaming allows far more room for customization, which in turn gives the owner a sense of control over things. That's very nice, but just don't go around saying it's the best. It really isn't.
Back to the customization I was talking about earlier, choosing PC gaming over regular gaming is a way of saying "Ok videogame industry, I like what you've done with the games, but I'm not at all pleased with your consoles and I think I can do better."
Can you really? Could the bunch of
If a thousand dollar price tag was by any means acceptable, believe me, mainstream consoles would be far more powerful than any potatobox you could put together.

WYoshiX2 (2014-08-24 21:25:05)^ That's what makes it a good discussion thread.
I'm a mix of both, though I'm more experienced with PC controls. Either way, I'm really not a hardcore gamer. Just depends on the day and what I feel like playing. Seems like a lot of the more serious gamers are reeeally passionate about their platforms.
Still a Lugia.

carlos11 (2014-08-25 02:56:55)Yeah, the game library on PC isn't good by any standard in terms of quality or quantity. It's not good in quantity because there are obviously less PC games than Console games out there. The quality isn't good either because if you get an average PC game and an average Console game and compare them, it's like comparing a game from a so-called handheld (phone games. *cringe*) to a game from an actual handheld (i.e. 3DS/Vita, hell, even DSiWare is better).
That being said, PC gaming is inferior in terms of software. Hardware-wise, yeah, PC gaming wins, but do console gamers obsess about hardware? No.
Come on guys, back me up.

Pretty straight forward. Are you a Console Gamer or PC Gamer?
PC Gamer all the way!
