3DS. Man, first time ever glasses-free 3D was accomplished, THAT'S GONNA GO DOWN IN THE HISTORY BOOKS!

The GBA SP. Introduced a claim shell design, rechargeable battery, and light-up screen. The DS introduced a touch screen, and the 3DS had, well, 3D, but the SP introduced so many ideas that are now standard in devices... Nintendo seems to do that a lot, tho.

What's so innovative about the PS1?

"CD based games!"

No, there were other consoles that used CDs before the PS1.
Ex. Sega CD, Amiga PC, NeoGeo CD, etc.

Really, the PS1 was originally a CD add-on for the SNES.

Their original controller was this:

When the N64 was released, they introduced analog controls and became wildly popular and now used in controllers today. So Sony made a controller with analogs with it.

The N64 also introduced rumble which also became popular and it's also used in controllers today. That's how DualShock controllers were created.

Virtual Boy

I would personally think the NES. Might not think about it today, but you really need to.

First off, it brought in the D-Pad that every controller today uses, rather than a joystick. (Though analog sticks are sort of like joysticks)

It also had a controller that was pretty comfortable in the hand. (As well as the NES Max, which had pretty much the shape of every controller today)

Look at the controllers before the NES.
Let me use Atari as an example (Don't mind the Jaguar controller show

They were really big controllers.
Look at the controllers afterwards.
Spoiler: show

Now (besides the Dreamcast controller), they're more comfortable controllers to hold instead of a huge brick.

This post was really just about the controllers of now but I don't really care.

Almost every single Nintendo console are innovative, except the 3DS, SNES, and the Wii U.

3DS wasn't innovative because the Virtual Boy already had 3D.
The SNES, even though regarded as The Last Great Video Game Console, was not innovative because the Genesis already had 16-Bits.
The Wii U wasn't innovative because it's just some clunky unportable tablet with analog sticks and buttons that has ty ass games.

@Cooldude1766
You need history lessons, kid:

The 3DS is glasses free 3D. When did you see someone making a 3D device without the use of special eyewear? The Virtual Boy was crap because it had terrible 3D effects because it was only red. The 3D effect is used by special goggles and mirrors reflecting from two screens creating the illusion of 3D effect.

The SNES introduced shoulder buttons now a standard thing in modern controls. And also introduced the X and Y buttons. How many buttons did Genesis had? Only 3. Not only that, the SNES was better for fighting games. The SNES was more powerful than the Genesis. The only thing the Genesis was superior is that it had a better processor. Everything else was watered down by the SNES. It had more colors, can display multiple colors and sprites at the same time, better sound quality, and better resolution. That's why Doom was possible on the SNES and not the Genesis. It was later ported to the ty 32x, which it was still inferior to the SNES.

The Wii U is the most innovative console of the 8th gen. The One and PS4 offer the same crap. The Wii U is the only one that offers different experience.

Please learn your gaming history and system features first, then comment.
